Global Affairs, Apples Investment Moves & Immigration Crises
United States President Donald Trump, in recent weeks, has sparked nationwide and global debate with newly implemented policies and tariff hikes. These measures have left industries and nations on edge of navigating through tough decisions– either to comply with the new regulations or seek alternative trade partnerships, adding to the growing economic uncertainty.
This has also led to the announcement of Apple this week to make an investment of nothing less than $500 billion and hire 20,000 in the US over the next four years. This Apple largest-ever spend commitment is likely to please the President who has pushed the U.S. companies to shift manufacturing homes.

The announcement comes days after President Trump made a statement that the company– Apple– has agreed to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the United States as he trumpeted the success of his plan in boosting the American economy. Many argue that the signing of the raise in the tariff hike could lead to raise in prices for consumers but his administration argues that the higher the cost will encourage companies to manufacture in the Country.
However, Apple also said in its announcement that the company is also planning to open a new manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, in 2026 that will assemble servers that play a key role in powering Apple Intelligence and would create thousands of jobs.
Check out the reaction of the US citizens concerning the investment.
Deported Immigrants From U.S Cries For Help
Authorities have confined 299 immigrants deported from the United States last week to a luxury hotel in Panama, preventing them from stepping outside. Once known for its easy access, where tourists freely entered and exited, the hotel now remains heavily guarded by armed members of the Panamanian National Aeronaval Service, enforcing strict measures inside and outside the building. The immigrants plead for help as they endure these restrictions.

The immigrants arrived at the Panama City hotel after President Jose Raúl Mulino agreed that Panama will become a bridge country for the deportees for the Trump led administration that pledges to deport millions of people who crossed illegally into the country.
Jenny Soto Fernández, a Panamanian lawyer representing 24 migrants from India and Iran stated that her clients live in isolation, fear, and uncertainty as authorities prevent them from leaving their hotel rooms to meet with their lawyers or representatives.
Although, President José Raúl Mulino denied all allegations saying the authorities have neve violated any laws and denied the immigrants of their rights.
